We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join a fast-growing consumer technology company based in San Francisco. In this pivotal role, you will take significant ownership, partnering closely with backend engineers, product managers, and designers to conceptualize, build, and ship a 0→1 consumer web product. Your expertise will be crucial in establishing frontend architecture, setting best practices, and delivering pixel-perfect, responsive interfaces with engaging animations and micro-interactions. We are specifically looking for individuals who have a proven track record of bringing consumer products from idea to launch and scale within a startup context.
Candidates with exclusive experience from large Big Tech or B2B/enterprise environments, without direct 0→1 consumer product development experience, are unlikely to be a fit. This position requires a strong product sense, the ability to make thoughtful UX decisions independently, and a comfort level with ambiguity and rapid shipping cycles.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Build and ship a 0→1 consumer web product from the ground up, taking full ownership of its development lifecycle.
- Establish robust frontend architecture, coding standards, and best practices primarily using React and TypeScript.
- Own features end-to-end, encompassing frontend development, backend integration, API design, and data model implementation.
- Translate complex Figma designs into pixel-perfect, production-quality user interfaces.
- Create smooth animations, compelling motion, subtle micro-interactions, and fully responsive web experiences.
- Collaborate effectively with backend engineers on API design, data models, and performance optimization.
- Develop internal tools and dashboards to enhance business efficiency and operational insights.
- Operate within a fast-moving, highly autonomous startup environment, taking significant ownership of your work.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional fullstack web engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in modern React and TypeScript.
- Proven experience shipping a 0→1 consumer web product at a startup is essential.
- Experience owning frontend architecture and platform standards for a consumer-facing product.
- Strong understanding of modern React patterns, hooks, performance optimization, and robust frontend architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect user interfaces.
- Strong experience with motion, animations, and micro-interactions to enhance user experience.
- Excellent technical fundamentals and the ability to own problems end-to-end.
- Strong product sense and the ability to make thoughtful UX decisions independently.
- Comfortable operating with high autonomy and shipping quickly in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work onsite in San Francisco 5 days per week.
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in consumer gaming.
- Experience with payments or fintech systems.
- Familiarity with real-time features and technologies.
- Experience with React Native.
- Demonstrated experience partnering closely with backend engineers on APIs and data models.
